Located on the shores of Lake Walter F. George in southwest Georgia, this resort park features a 60-room lodge, conference center, restaurant, cottages and award-winning 18-hole Meadow Links Golf Course. The park’s marina and boat ramp offer easy access to the 48,000-acre lake for fishing and boating. The large picnic shelter and numerous picnic sites are perfect places for families to enjoy their catch. Facilities are available for meetings, reunions, weddings and other group gatherings. Visitors may also look for wildlife along the three-mile nature trail, which winds through hardwoods and pines.

This unusual park is an important archaeological site as well as a scenic recreational area. Seven earthen mounds within the park were built between 250–950 A.D. by the Swift Creek and Weeden Island Indians. The mounds include Georgia’s oldest great temple mound, two burial mounds and four ceremonial mounds. The park’s museum is partially situated inside an excavated mound, providing an unusual setting for viewing artifacts and a film. Outdoor activities include camping, fishing, hiking, picnicking and boating. |

Chattahoochee Park is managed by Houston County Parks. Located in Houston County in the southeast corner of Alabama, it takes its name from the nearby Chattahoochee River. This scenic 596-acre park offers hook-ups and amenities for recreational vehicles, picnic areas, hiking trails, horseback riding, biking, swimming, fishing and camping. The park also offers handicapped hunting facilities during deer season.

This is one of the few state parks with dry (air filled) caves and is the only Florida state park to offer cave tours to the public. The cave has dazzling formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, flowstones, and draperies. Florida Caverns is also popular for camping, swimming, fishing, picnicking, canoeing, boating, hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding (The park does not rent horses). Stables are available for equestrian campers. Cave tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and are considered to be moderately strenuous. An audiovisual program, touring the cave and other natural areas of the park, is available in the visitor center. Located three miles north of Marianna on State Road 166.

Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1964, on the Walter F. George Reservoir (Lake Eufaula) in cooperation with the Corps of Engineers (COE). The reservoir resulted from impoundment of the Chattahoochee River between Alabama and Georgia. The Refuge, lying on the upper reaches of the reservoir, consists of 11,184 acres. There are 7,953 acres in Barbour and Russell Counties, Alabama, and 3,231 in Stewart and Quitman Counties, Georgia.

This southwest Georgia park is on beautiful Lake Seminole, a 37,500-acre reservoir with excellent boating, fishing and birding. Cottages, many campsites and even picnic shelters sit near the water’s edge, offering excellent views and quick access to the lake. Because the park surrounds a small cove, visitors usually enjoy smooth water for skiing and tubing. A sand swimming beach is also provided for lake lovers. Wildlife is abundant throughout Seminole, and a nature trail leads past gopher tortoise burrows, a wetland boardwalk and one of the largest Longleaf Pine forests in a Georgia state park. Observant visitors may also see alligators, osprey, bald eagles and other wildlife. Nearby wildlife management areas provide great duck and deer hunting.

Where Florida meets the southwest corner of Georgia, the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers converge to form Lake Seminole, the setting for this peaceful park. Hiking through forested hills of pine and mixed hardwoods, visitors might catch sight of fox squirrels, white-tailed deer, gray foxes, or many species of native and migratory birds. Anglers can launch from a boat ramp to enjoy some of the best freshwater fishing in the state, or fish from a 100-foot pier in the camping area. A shady picnic area, with tables and grills, overlooks the lake. For large gatherings, a picnic pavilion that seats up to 60 people is available for rental. Overnight visitors can stay in a full-facility campground next to the lake or enjoy the comforts of a modern cabin.

Lakefront RV camping sites with cable TV hookups and a nice modern bathhouse make it a great camping destination. There's also a natural island, with a boardwalk and walking path.
