It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Headland. Christmas lights are going up around the square. A new Christmas tree has been planted. And a list of Christmas activities is out.
Rhonda Harrison of the Headland Chamber of Commerce recently told the city council the annual Christmas Parade is set for Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. The parade will follow the usual route, beginning at Douglas Park and traveling down East Church, around the square and down South Main to King.
Mrs. Harrison said unlike recent years, where Santa left the parade as it reached the square, he will remain in the parade through its entirety this year. She added plans call for the parade to be moved back to an evening start time next year to coincide with the city's tree lighting.
This year's tree lighting is set for Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. There will be Christmas carols from individuals and groups, while kindergarten students at Headland Elementary School are busily continuing their tradition of making decorations for the tree.
Mark your calendars now for the 12th and 14th to help kick off the Christmas season. You might just catch some of the Christmas spirit.
