With humble beginnings in 1908, Headland Fire-Rescue has 115 years of serving the City of Headland and the surrounding communities.  While steeped in tradition, the men and women of this branch of the Department of Public Safety are using cutting edge technology, techniques, therapies and equipment to treat the sick and injured citizens that we serve.  While serving a sole purpose as a fire department in its infancy, the department now functions as a multipurpose Fire-Rescue agency, providing fire suppression, fire prevention, fire inspections, community education, professional EMS/Fire continuing education, technical rescue, and non-emergency and emergency medical services.

Fire operations are overseen by Captain Tony Wilkerson, utilizing 2 Class A pumpers, a 95 foot aerial platform, a brush unit, and an all terrain UTV to provide aggressive life and property protection during suppression and technical rescue incidents.

Volunteer firefighters can receive training through Alabama Fire College approved courses taught by a multitude of experienced instructors on our staff.  This year, we also became an affiliate participant in the Get Alarmed Alabama Smoke Detector grant program.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are overseen by Captain TJ Williams.

Two Type 1 advanced life support units are staffed daily to provide non-emergent and emergent treatment and transport of our sick and injured citizens.  Cutting edge equipment such as LUCAS mechanical CPR devices, Glidescope video laryngoscopes, Zoll X Series cardiac monitors, Stryker PowerLoad stretchers, and Sapphire IV pumps help to ensure the highest level of care is given in an emergency medical setting.

Community CPR classes taught by the Department of Public Safety are taught throughout the year in addition to all required continuing education required by the Alabama Department of Public Health Office of EMS & Trauma and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Headland Fire-Rescue is always looking to add dedicated individuals looking for a way to give back to their community and be part of something bigger than themselves.  If you’re interested in joining a group of men and women dedicated to serving our community, come see us at 456 E Main St in Headland, email us at fireandrescue@headlandalabama.org, or call us at 334-693-9325.
