Headland 12U All-Stars Win State, Advance to Dixie Youth Softball World Series

HEADLAND, AL — The City of Headland is proud to announce that the Headland 12U All-Star Softball Team has claimed the 2025 Alabama State Championship and will go on to represent the state at the Dixie Youth Softball World Series in Tioga, Louisiana, beginning July 16, 2025.

This exceptional group of young athletes has demonstrated talent, teamwork, and perseverance on their road to the top, earning the honor of competing against the best teams from across the state. The World Series repeat appearance marks a significant achievement for Headland’s recreation softball program and reflects the strong foundation of youth sports in our community.

The team is led by Coaches Addison Rushing, Joel Kibler, and Kraig Hester, who have guided the players through a successful season marked by growth, grit, and championship play.

Team members include: Ava Chase Pynes (#3), Klaire Shockey (#7), Kennedy Claire Birdsong (#8), Kathryn Hester (#11), Emalyn Riley (#12), Lizzy Blankenship (#13), Avery Kibler (#15), Kyleigh Bass (#16), Maddie Skipper (#21), and Adeline Rushing (#25).

To celebrate this milestone, the City of Headland will host a World Series Send-Off Celebration on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. on the Square in Downtown Headland. The public is invited to attend and help give these outstanding athletes the recognition they deserve as they head to the national stage.

“This team embodies the spirit of Headland—dedicated, determined, and full of heart,” said Mayor Jody Singleton. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to cheer them on as they represent Alabama in Tioga.”
